Livro Área 91

O Projeto Área 91 é um ensaio investigativo ficcional sobre naves espaciais alienígenas que se transformam em atração musical para mais de 10 mil pessoas todas as noites em Belém do Pará.

Durante a pesquisa para o desdobramento do projeto em livro, encontrei no Arquivo Nacional diversos relatos de avistamentos de OVNI's em documentos militares secretos revelados pela Lei do Acesso à Informação de 2013. O mais incrível deles sendo um dossiê detalhado sobre uma suposta incursão militar para estabelecer contato chamada "operação prato" na Ilha de Colares, bem próximo a Belém.

Inspirado pelos relatos e pela estética militar desses documentos, criamos também um dossiê sobre a minha investigação.

Quando digo criamos, no plural, estou me referindo às diversas pessoas que ajudaram essa longa gestação editorial: Está todo mundo devidamente listado nos agradecimentos, mas não posso deixar de dizer que o livro Área 91 teve a honra de contar com textos de intelectuais, artistas e pensadores sobre arte contemporânea e a cena musical de Belém.

Espero dessa forma ter criado mais um predicado e uma nova perspectiva sobre um movimento musical e cultural que, apesar de ter mais de 40 anos, ainda é pouco conhecido - até mesmo no Brasil.


Area 91 Book

The Area 91 Project is a fictional investigative essay about alien spacecraft that transform into a musical attraction for over 10 thousand people every night in Belém do Pará.

During the research for the expansion of the project into a book, I found various accounts of UFO sightings in secret military documents revealed by the 2013 Access to Information Act at the National Archives. One of the most incredible stories is a detailed dossier about a supposed military incursion to establish contact called "Operation Saucer" on Colares Island, very close to Belém.

Inspired by these accounts and the military aesthetic of these documents, we also created a dossier about my investigation. When I say "we", I am referring to the various people who assisted in this long editorial gestation: everyone is duly listed in the acknowledgments, but I cannot fail to mention that the book Area 91 had the honor of featuring texts from intellectuals, artists, and thinkers on contemporary art and the music scene in Belém.

I hope, in this way, to have created another predicate and a new perspective on a musical and cultural movement of over 40 years, still relatively unknown— even in Brazil.
